International Cooperation

Since the launch of international cooperative efforts in copyright and publishing in the 1980's, the People's Medical Publishing House has made strides to enter the international medical book market. PMPH has established long-term cooperative relationships with many publishing companies in the United States, Britain, Japan, Germany, France, Switzerland as well as with companies in Taiwan and Hong Kong, with which it imports and exports many items.

In recent years, PMPH has imported more and more medical canons and textbooks, and has also established closely cooperative relationships with world-famous publishing groups McGraw-Hill, Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, Elsevier, and Springer-Verlag. To fulfill the requirement of providing bilingual education in colleges, PMPH imports outstanding teaching materials for domestic publication, such as Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine, Sabiston's Textbook of Surgery, Goodman's and Gilman's Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics, Williams Hematology, Rutherford's Vascular Surgery and many others. In this manner, Chinese students are able to afford editions of these outstanding books.

PMPH imports the highest quality and largest amount of medical books in China. Because of its strengths , PMPH is recognized as the Chinese translating and publishing center by the World Health Organization.

Presently, in cooperation with the China Medical Academy, and based on expert suggestions, PMPH imports books of every academic subject. Simultaneously, PMPH is also importing techniques and specialists to accelerate the collaboration of high-level Chinese and international experts, to translate, edit and publish books. This is to attain the goal of bringing the skill level of Chinese practice of biomedicine closer to the international level. PMPH plans to import into China 1000 types of foreign language medical books, 100 authoritative medical periodicals, and to publish many advanced level writings by Chinese experts, to facilitate the introduction of our native experts to the world.
